As armistice of the Korean War was declared, the armistice agreement was executed from Panmunjeom on July 27th 1953 and officially named as Joint Security Area (JSA). Panmunjeon is located 50 km north of Seoul and only 10 km from Gaesung. From JSA, guards from both South and North Korea are monitoring each other under the tight supervision of UNC security battalion. Sightseeing is allowed by reservation only and classified by Korean national and foreigners. In JSA, there are 10 building including the main conference hall of the Military Armistice Commission (MAC) and various meetings between South and North Korea are being held. |

No. 3 Underground Tunnel was discovered in 1978, mere 52km away from Seoul and 12km away from Munsan. It is 2m wide, 2m high and 1,635 m long. It would have been able to accommodate 10,000 soldiers to move through the tunnel in one hour. When it was uncovered, North asserted without base that it was built by South for the purpose of invading North, however, there were clear remnants of explosions which were directed from North toward South proving contrary to their claim. |

Appointed as a Gyeonggi Provincial Monument #23 on September 5th 1975. Burry generalâs wife Munwha Ryu in the same tomb. The grave is made with 2 layers of stones in a rectangular shape and surrounded by low raised wall. There are 2 tombstones at both side of tomb and a national service monument in the front of the tomb, and alter, Honyu stone, incense burner table, set of stone pillar and stone statue are lined up at left and right of the tomb. The tomb mound is a rectangular shape and there is general Choiâs father Won-Jik Choiâs grave is located at the top of the tomb. General Choi was born in 1316 (3rd year of King Choongsook) and became a Mun Ha Si Joong (a minister of internal affairs) after serving Dae Ho Goon (Grand General). General Choi has defeated Japanese and Chinese for number of times in late Goryo dynasty (king Min & King Woo), and planned to go on a conquest of Lyoning in 1388. General Choi was executed by Sung Gye Lee in 1388 (14th year of King Woo) after returning from Wewha island. |
